By using #MiniMeToo we are saying, ‘When I am older I don’t want to be a #MeToo, I have the right to be safe and most importantly, I will not protect adults who sexually abuse children!’

Thanks goes out to Dee Blackie

For all the great content that she has made available to MiniMeToo - of Courage Child Protection

TAKING ACTION FOR #MiniMeToo

For too long, perpetrators of child abuse have been allowed to operate without censure or accountability. We are asking all participants in the #MiniMeToo campaign to take personal responsibility and change the child protection environment. To do this, we must:

Build Awareness

  • What is child abuse
  • What is child protection
  • What are our responsibilities?

Know Your Rights

  • What are child rights?
  • What are child responsibilities?
  • Are we advocating for these?

Speak Up

  • How can we speak up and out?
  • Who should we partner?
  • How do we empower ourselves?

Engaging our youth

  • We believe that the greatest influencers in shifting consciousness and having courageous conversations are the Youth.
  • A media launch was conducted at Kingsmead College on Friday 22nd June 2018.
  • Youth from various schools were invited to join the #MiniMeToo Movement and as influencers and ambassadors, to take the message back to their schools, peers and classmates.

Community Hours

  • Community Service and Volunteerism is a growing movement. For young people today, it is increasingly important that they learn about the world around them, engage and contribute to their and less fortunate communities, and learn valuable skills along the way.
  • Community Hours is a program that matches young people to volunteering opportunities.
  • Via their web portal, volunteers can search, select and book to volunteer at organisations which speak to them and Community Hours does the rest.
  • This includes event and engagement management, verifying volunteer hours, providing data to parents and teachers, and a digital recording and reporting mechanism for students.

Community Hours is partnering with #MiniMeToo to facilitate our ‘Courageous Conversations’ in schools and tertiary institutions using the Courage Child Protection community engagement programme.
